1,200 Baby Onesies Donated
Posted on 10 October 2016
July 12th was a pretty epic day for Fayebeline. A trifecta of awesomeness came together in one 24 hour period that we couldn't have planned if we tried.
It all started in early 2016 when Major League Baseball announced that the 2016 All-Star Game would be held at the San Diego Padres stadium, just two hours south of our home in Los Angeles. Jeff--being the baseball obsessed dude that he is--was immediately interested in taking a little Fayebeline family vacation to see the game. Thus, July 12th got circled on the calendar with a note about "San Diego/All Star Game."
Around the same time, I began brainstorming ways to make our charitable giving even more impactful. We were committed to donating 10% of our profits to charity and had done so in 2015, but I wanted to find some great charities that we could really build a relationship with. I put out the call on Facebook and Instagram for our fans to share their favorite kid-related charities. One of our Instagram brand reps responded right away with a charity that she learned about when her little girl was born and had to spend time in the NICU. The charity was called Miracle Babies, and they were located in San Diego. This got me thinking that perhaps we could find one or more charities that could use baby onesies and thus we would know exactly how our donations were being used. I called Miracle Babies and learned more about their mission and the type of support they offered families. We began some tentative discussions about Fayebeline donating baby onesies to go in their NICU bags that get distributed to every family with a baby in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
I mentioned that we would be in San Diego in July and perhaps we could meet in person at that time. Knowing that the baseball game was in the late afternoon, we scheduled an 11am meeting for July 12th.
As July approached, Amazon began promoting their annual Prime Day sale. We submitted several special deals to be included on the yet-to-be-announced day. Then Amazon's PR team contacted us about being a featured seller in some special Prime Day videos and articles; we of course said "yes!" The 14-person film crew came and went, our special deals got approved, and we still waited to hear when this special day would be. Being the smart reader you are, I'm sure you've guessed it by now...the big announcement came that Prime Day 2016 would be none other than Tuesday, July 12th.
When the big day finally arrived, it looked a little something like this:
Wake up at our rented condo in San Diego
Immediately log-in to Amazon Seller Central and check our sales dashboard
Go to breakfast (Eat while refreshing the Amazon app on our phones)
Sales are looking good *high fives*
Drive to our Miracle Babies meeting with a sample of the onesie we designed for them
Meet with the most wonderful team of ladies, get *all* the warm fuzzies, feel like we're making a difference in the world (sneak a peek at our Amazon app--wow! Prime Day deal is live and sales are gooooood)
Head back to the condo, get ready for the All-Star game
Refresh, refresh, refresh sales dashboard. Amazing! Expectations blown away.
Watch All-Star game, while stealing glances at our phone apps and excitedly texting some close family & friends at our Prime Day sales
Back at the condo, put baby to bed, but we're too excited to sleep. We just cannot believe the day we've had.
Something beautifully poetic happened that day. Not only did we have a ridiculously great sales day, but we had the opportunity to be reminded why it all matters. To see that with every onesie we sell, we can help an organization that gives hope, love, and support to families and babies who need it most. Isn't that what it's all about?
The bottom line is this: when you buy from Fayebeline, your purchase matters. You can look good, feel good, and do good. You hard-earned money helps support our family business, and helps families & babies in the NICU through our partnership with Miracle Babies. We've donated 1,200 baby onesies so far in 2016!
